13 iiii3 'f011 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, November 29, 1985 LOCAL NEWS Center Celebrates Arts, Chanukah _ The Jewish Community Center will feature a slide presentation by Sybil Mintz at 1 p.m. Wednes- day at the main Center complex. Mrs. Mintz, an artist and art historian, will give a talk on "Il- luminated Hebrew Manuscripts." Admission is free. The Center will have a family Chanukah celebration at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the main Center complex. Activities include a candlelighting ceremony, sing-a- long and audience-participation play presented by the Jewish Par- ents Institute. At 2 p.m., there will be a group for children age 21/2 and under, which includes Chanukah arts and crafts and potato latkes. Car- nival games will be available for children age 2 1/2-6. Games of skill will be offered to children age 7 and up. Latke-making and menorah-making workshops will be available. The film, Yentl, will be shown at-2:30 p.m. in the Center's studio theater. Guest librarian Violet Altschuler of the West Bloomfield Library will conduct a special Chanukah story hour in the li- brary. There is a charge. For Details, call the Center, 661-1000, ext. 251. Frances Weinberg will review The Class by Erich Segal at 1 p.m. Dec. 9 in the library at the main Jewish Community Center. The public is invited free of charge. Radomer Aid Will Have Party The Radomer Aid Society will hold its annual Chanukah party on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Zionist Cultural Center. This also will be the closing meeting for the winter months. Dinner will be prepared and served by the committee. Entertainment will be provided. Senior Adults Hear Folksinger The Enhanced Generation of Cong. Beth Shalom will celebrate the Chanukah season with a pro- gram by folksinger Judy Golds- tein singing "Songs from the Shtetl" at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the synagogue. Breakfast will be served. Liver Foundation Meeting Thursday The Michigan Chapter of the American Liver Foundation will hold an educational meeting Thursday in classrooms D and E on the 10th floor of William Beaumont Hospital at 7:30 p.m. The topic will be, "Primary Biliary Cirrhosis Update."
