Concurrent Meals
At '86 G.A.

The Council of Jewish Federa-
tions announced this week that in
response to criticism that its an-
nual General Assembly has too
many concurrent sessions — as
as a dozen workshops tak-
_ many
.
ing place at the same time — a
new plan will go into effect when
the next G.A. is held next Novem-
ber in Chicago. "We've
decided to make breakfast, lunch
and dinner concurrent," said a
proud Dr. Halley Comet, chief
,planner of the G.A. "That way
people can save time and money."

Comet also announced that
next year's event will have no
more -than 14 sessions with the -
subtitle "The Challenge and the
Promise," and only 11 official
Scholars-In-Residence.
In an effort to promote- Jewish
unity, one plenary meeting will
deal with the provocative ques-
tion: "Are Chasidim Permitted to
Smile?" while another will focus
on: "Reform Jews: Seventh-Day
Atheists?"
The two sessions will be held
concurrently.

Tel Aviv — Some of the practi-
cal problems of running a unity
government may yet undermine
it, the Jewish Blues has learned.
"I'm sick and tired," said Prime
Minister Peres. "Of having to
finish each other's sentences,"
interjected Foreign Minister
Shamir.

PAC-Men Increase

Washington — A number of
political action committees, bet-
ter known here as PACs, are caus-
ing confusion because of their
names, according to a Jewish
Blues evaluation. Typical among
these is the rodent exterminators
lobby, know Ai as RAT-PAC, the
pickles distibutors organization,

PIC-PACs, and the pick-pocketers
union, PIK-PAC. (A group ad-
vocating thievery among pickle
distributors is called PIK-PIC-
PAC.)(JTA) — According to a late
report, a half dozen beer man-
ufcturers have formed a lobby
known as SIX-PAC.

It's Never Too Late

Los Angeles — Mayor Tom
Bradley, sensitive to bitter ac-
cusations that he waited too
, long to condemn Rev. Louis Far-
rakhan as an anti-Semite, told a
meeting of the American Jewish
Congress today that he wanted

to "go on the record — force-
fully, unequivocally and im-
mediately" — to voice his pro-
test against Spain's expulsion of
the Jews in 1492.
