"Religious Fundamentaligm" at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 2, at the main United Hebrew Schools build- ing. Rabbi Sherwin Wine, founder of the Birmingham Temple, will lead the discussion. Under Wine's direction, the Birmingham Temple became the first congregation in the country to adopt the philosophy of Humanistic Judaism. Founder of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, Wine has seen the society grow to include 15 humanistic groups through- out North America. The "First Monday Group" is organized by the social aware- ness committee of the Women's Division. The program brings together women who wish to share ideas on issues of per- sonal, community and a na- tional concern. A light breakfast will be served. Helen Shevin is chairman of the social awareness committee; Beverly Baker is associate chairman. There is no charge for the meeting, but reservations are required. Beth Achim, in conjunc- tion with its resident caterer, Sperber's Kosher Catering, will hold the first of a series of ethnic dinners on Dec. 5. The first dinner will feature Chinese food. Two main courses will be available: Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pepper Steak. The dinner will consist of egg roll, main course, brown rice, stir-fry vegetables, beverage and dessert. An alternative children's dinner (hot dog on bun with potato chips), will be available at a reduced fee. There will be two seatings at Wasserman Hall: 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Pre-paid reservations must be received at the synagogue office by Dec. 1.
