Sandy Gubin of Kalamazoo, a doctoral student at the Univer- sity of Michigan, was the leader of the loose organization of di- videdlamilies. She was told last Friday that her husband of 2 1/2 years, Aleksei Lodisev, would be allowed to join her in the U.S. On Monday, the State De- partment announced that the Soviets will release Chicago na- tive Abe Stolar and his family, ending their 11 1/2-year battle to return to the U.S. The Stolars were removed from a Moscow plane 111/2 years ago when offi- cials decided that the Stolars' son's marriage had not been le- gally recorded. Stolar's parents were ardent Communists, and took their family back to Russia in the 1930's. Abe's father disappeared in a Stalinst purge in 1936, and Stolar's mother and sister were sent to Siberia in 1937, where they died. Detroit Soviet Jewry activist Rae Sharfman said many of Michigan's Congressional dele- gation worked on the Stolar case. Sharfman called a Stolar relative in Israel on Monday to tell her the news, and had to speak to the woman in Yiddish to make her understand. e vts vtov" Et 11)1 ve e0'• , o 309. vAtt be oAt Vct 061 3. ctV 1-101 °I13.
