In addition, they were tied by their affiliation to the Poale Zion — Labor Zionist movement. Her other acquaintances from Israel include many who are now - deceased — David Ben- Gurion, Moshe Sharrett, Yitzchak Ben-Zvi, Levi Eshkol and Pinchas Sapir. Frieda Stollman, who also has many ties to Israel and institu- tions there, talked about Mrs. Schaver's tireless pursuits to benefit the Jewish state. Mrs. Schaver, chairman of the board of Central Quality Services Corp., has since become the president of the Mokhtzvei Even Quarry in Haifa, Israel. "She went into another business to do good things in Israel," Mrs. Stolman said. She always helped with big (humanitarian) projects in Israel. The Pioneer Women organiza- tion is familiar with one of those projects. In 1966, ground was broken for Beit Nechama in Ramat Eliyahu, a suburb of Rishon l'Zion, for a comprehen- sive community center. Finished in 1968 and bearing Mrs. Schaver's Hebrew name, the center has vocational classes for women, day care and an au- ditorium and kitchen equipped to service wedding and bar/bat mitzvah celebrations. Throughout Israel there are universities, recreational facilities, schools, hospitals, organizations, funds and public institutions which have felt the Schaver touch. Despite the fact that her face and name often appear in print locally, Mrs. Schaver is seen by her friends as a private person.
