Rabbi Rosenbaum received a
master's degree in Judaic
studies , from the Jewish
Theological Seminary in 1972,
and was ordained in 1974.
He came to B'nai Moshe from
the seminary in 1974, working
with the congregation's senior
rabbi, Moses Lehrman, until the
latter's death in 1976. Since
then he has been the congrega-
tion's sole spiritual leader.
Rabbi Rosenbaum has been
active in Jewish and ecumenical
affairs in the Detroit area for
many years. He is immediate
past president of the Detroit
Rabbinical Commission, having
served three terms. He is also a
past president of the Conserva-
tive Rabbis of Metropolitan De-
troit. He serves on the executive
committee of the Jewish Com-
munity Council and on the
clergy steering committee of the
Greater Detroit Roundtable of
Christians and Jews.
He is a member of the boards
of the Anti-Defamation League,
United Hebrew Schools, Jewish
National Fund and Hospice and
Southeastern Michigan, and is a
member of the Detroit Soviet
Jewry Committee. He has lec-
tured widely as a member of the
Michigan Coalition for Human
Rights speakers panel.
Rabbi Gerald Teller, superin-
tendent of United Hebrew
Schools, will deliver a guest
sermon at B'nai Moshe on Nov.
23, and Rabbi Rosenbaum's
children, Jonathan and Ilana,
and his mother, Joyce, will par-
ticipate. A special presentation
will be made to the rabbi at
about 10:45 a.m.

the services and the kiddush

Cong. B'nai Moshe will honor
the congregation's rabbi, Stan-
ley M. Rosenbaum, at Shabbat
morning services on Nov. 23. A
special kiddush will follow the
services.
Rabbi Rosenbaum was born
and grew up in Detroit. After
graduating from Murnford High
School, he earned a B.A. degree
in psychology at the University
of Michigan. He also holds a
master's degree in clinical psy-
chology from the University of

Has Melave Malka

The culmination of Machon
L'Torah's Shabbaton will be a
melava malka at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday to be held in the home
of Rabbi and Mrs. Avraham
Jacobovitz, 24786 Sussex, Oak
Park. In addition to the pro-
gram, the evening will be top-
ped off with a home-made
Israeli-style meal.
Keynote speaker will be Rabbi
Elimelech Goldberg of Young Is-
rael of Southfield. Sara
Menucha Kahn will act as em-
cee. The highlight of the eve-
ning will be the presentations
by a panel of women who will
discuss different issues relating
to women.
Elaine Mael, a professional
librarian, will begin with a pre-
sentatio on "Biblical Women —
Our Matriarchs, Sarah, Rivkah,
Rochel and Leah."
She will be followed by Goldie
Silverstein, a teacher, with an
address on "Contemporary
Women." Hillary Drucker, who
has on-hands experience in
community affairs, will discuss
"The Role of the Woman Within
the Framework of the Commu-
nity." Reva Weissfish, an ex-
perienced educator and lecturer
will launch a discussion on
"Women in the 'Home." The
panelists will then address the
questions of the participants.
