Tickets Available
For Music Event

Tickets are still available for
Cong. B'nai Moshe's musical
mini series, "Masterpieces of
Jewish Music," to be held 8 p.m.
Wednesday at the synagogue,
under the auspices of the cul-
tural commission.
The performing artists will be
the Detroit Woodwind Quintet,
with guest soloist Marjorie Gor-
don. The quintet, consists of
Amy Ridings, flute; Sylvia
Starkman, oboe; Lauran Mitch-
ell, clarinet; Michael Wieland,
bassoon; Ernestine Barnes,
horn; and their piano accom-
panist Doris Eubanks.
Miss Gordon, internationally
known coloratura, made her
symphonic debut with the New
York Philharmonic Orchestra.
She has appeared with the
Chicago, Pittsburgh and Detroit
Symphony Orchestras and has
sung leading roles with the New
York City Opera. She is co-
founder of the Detroit Opera
Theatre, executive director of
the Piccolo Opera Co. and is an
adjunct professor of voice at
Wayne State University.
The featured work to be per-
formed by Ms. Gordon is
Sephardic Son4,s by Detroit
composer Elaine Lebenbom. Ms.
Lebenbom is a winner of na-
tional awards, whose composi-
tions have been selected for per-
formance at the Spoleto Festival
USA, the National Music Camp
at Interlochen and the Contem-
porary Music Festival at Bowl-
ing Green State University
among others. A program of her
works was presented on Na-
tional Public Radio.
There is a charge. Refresh-
ments will be served.

Birmingham Temple
Stages Art Show

Tickets are still available for
the grand opening of the Bir-
mingham Temple Art Show 8
p.m. tonight at the synagogue,
28611 W. 12 Mile Road.
The show, presented in coop-
eration with radio station
WQRS-FM, features works by
80 local artists in various
media. The show will also run
11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11
a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. There is a
nominal admission charge.
Because of the art show, reg-
ular Friday evening services at
the synagogue will be cancelled
for one week only.
