Pribichuk when opening some-
time in December ... New name
is undecided as yet by owners
Michael Zuckman and cousin
David Mintz ... at deli restau-
rant in West Bloomfield Plaza,
Orchard Lake Rd. south of
Maple.
IT'S NOW PERMANENT
HOME . . . for Mark Ridley's
Comedy Castle ... but even
more than that also ... Former
Northwood Inn and Spaghetti
Co. on Woodward and 11 1/2 Mile
is also a cafe.
SHEL'S, . . . Lenny's, Gary's,
etc. etc. ... and now Hanlin's
Cafe ... This is 54-seater deli-
restaurant opened recently on
Orchard Lake Rd. between 13
and 14 Mile ... by Jeff Hanlin,
wife Nanette Hanlin and
brother Bill Hanlin.
SUNRISE CAFE on Ten
Mile and Greenfield in New Or-
leans Mall, is now open for
dinners ... seven days a week.
STRANGE THINGS HAP-
PENED Devil's Night prior to
last week's Halloween ... but
nothing as bizarre as that of a
21-year-old busboy dressed like
Adolf Hitler, with little mus-
tache, khaki pants, white shirt
and large red arm bands with
black swastikas on white back-
ground.
This was what reader, who
asks to remain anonymous, says
he saw at Peabody's Restaurant
on Woodward ... And, he al-
leges, it was supposedly con-
doned by owner Jim Peabody as
"just a costume" ... regardless
of its offensiveness to Jewish
persons and others in the res-
taurant.
The reader tells of asking an-
other Jewish person what he
thought of it, and the person re-
plied, "He's not going to take
care of my table!"
Richard Lobenthal, executive
director of Anti-Defamation
League, was called by the
reader . . . We confirmed this
and talked to Dick, who says he
phoned restaurant and owner
had just left so spoke to man-
ager who agreed it was not in
good taste but would do nothing
about it ... However, says Lo-
benthal, his insistance finally
had the manager saying he
would have the swastika arm
bands removed ... Reader says
he was at the restaurant an
hour and the busgent still wore
the swastikas.
According to reader, he had
mentioned to Jim Peabody that
the Nazi uniform was offensive
. and Jim allegedly replied,
"So what?"
Sharon Bolitho, day and eve-
ning manager, told us that cer-
tainly a busboy was in a Nazi
uniform, but it caused no prob-
lem. "Everyone was in costume,"
says Sharon. Some even dres-
sed as American soldiers, too."
Wearing a Nazi uniform with
swastikas is far from being a
Halloween costume!
OWNERS SAY . . . no truth
to talk that Bloomies, Orchard
Lake Rd., has been sold.
