who look for and work for good government in the

mend that you support Mayor Donald F. Fracassi on
Tuesday, November 5, 1985

Southfield has forged ahead as an "All American
City" and is also planning ahead for the 21st century
via a program, "2001", which was instituted in 1983
under the leadership of Don Fracassi. We have been
lauded as having "a positive business climate" in the
Detroit Free Press, while maintaining our suburban
appeal.

qualities of the residents of Southfield
independence, compassion, common
sense and hard work. He will be a good
Councilman for all of us because he

our membership. The potential
for that is very good. We've got-
ten a lot of public relations help
from Bruce Tabashneck and
we've really begun to establish
ourselves as a viable organiza-
tion.
"We try to make people feel
welcome. Once we get them here
we try to convince them to come
back. We try to have follow-up
phone calls and we try to meet
everyone that comes in for the
first time."
For Gail Beron, Toastmasters
meant achieving a goal. It also
meant improved self-confidence.
"I feel better about myself be-
cause I can communicate better
in a work-related situation and
in front of a group of people. I
plan to stay in Toastmasters for
a while and I would recommend
it to my colleagues and anyone
else who wants to express them-
selves better."
Toastmasters is also allowing
Darrell Yee to achieve personal
motivational seminars at Oak-
land Community College and in
the Walled Lake Community
Education system. Yee sees even
more benefits to be gained doWn
the road. "It's helped me com-
municate better in one-on-one
situations with people at work
and with friends. And who
knows; someday I may have to
give presentations to other
engineers."
"Everybody as human beings
has to communicate," he con-
tinues. "It's a big part of busi-
ness and personal relationships
and if you have a hard time
communicating, then you have a
hard time relating to people,
and that is a main ingredient to:
successful living."
Bissinger is a believer. "The
most gratifying thing is watch-
ing somebody come in with no
background and almost terrified
to get up and speak, and watch
their progress.
"We're still trying to build up
the number of regulars, but
even beyond that there's still a
lot of room to grow. We can offer
leadership seminars for the
community at large with the
expertise that the members of
this club have. We'd like to tie
ourselves in with some of the
major holidays and events that
go on here at the Center. And
there are youth programs we
can get involved with ... That's
why we see this as a true com-
munity club."

The Center Toastmasters Club
will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
in room 239 of the main Jewish
Center. Admission is free. • For

Gaza Bomb

Tel Aviv (JTA) — A Molotov
cocktail was tossed at a 'civilian
car travelling between Gaza and
Khan Yunis on the edge of the
Gaza Strip Friday. It exploded
but caused neither casualties
nor damage, police said.
