Shabbat Noted

Machon L'Torah will sponsor
a Shabbat experience for women
Nov. 15 and 16.
The women will join for services
at Young Israel of Greenfield
and have Shabbat dinner in the
home of Rabbi and Mrs. Av-
raham Jacobovitz, 24786 Sussex,
Oark Park. The balance of the
special Shabbat will be observed
in homes throughout the com-
munity.
The weekend also will feature
lectures, workshops and dis-
cussions.
There is no fee, but reserva-
tions are required. For reserva-

7937. Deadline for reservations
is Thursday.

Family Sabbath
Service Planned

Temple Israel will hold its
first family Sabbath service of
the season at 8 p.m. today.
Rabbi Harold S. Loss will de-
liver a story sermon on the sub-
ject, "Asking for Favors."
The service will be preceded
by a dinner in the temple's
Herman Social Hall for students
in the sixth and seventh grades
and their parents.
Services will be conducted by
students of the Hebrew honors
class, and youngsters will join
with Cantor Harold Orbach in
chanting the kiddush.
All families in the community
are invited.

SYNAGOGUE

The outreach committee at
Temple Emanu-El will host a
discussion series entitled "Mixed
Doubles," beginning 10:30 a.m.
Nov. 10 at the temple.
The discussions will focus on
the issues facing intermarried
couples. Married couples and
those considering marriage are
invited.
The monthly discussion series
will be moderated by Rabbi
Lane Steinger. Refreshments
will be served. There will be - a
materials fee per couple for the
entire series (Nov. 10, Dec. 15,
Feb. 9 and March 9). Contact
the temple office, 967-4020, for
information and to register.

Temple To Host
Book Review

Rabbi Sherwin Wine will re-
view A Perfect Peace by Amos
Oz at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the
Birmingham Temple. There is
an admission charge. The pro-
gram is part of the temple's
Monday Forum series.
The temple also will be the
scene of "An Evening with the
Rabbi" for prospective temple
members at 8:30 p.m. Wednes-
day.
Rabbi Wine will describe the
philosophy and the programs of
the Birmingham Temple and of
Humanistic Judaism.
