When she started her com-
pany, she wanted to have "a $2
million business in three years."
Has she reached her goal? "Our
showing is profitable," she an-
swers.
What is the future for Esther
Margolis? We '11 have to wait for
the next chapter.
Freedom to Read Committee of
the Association of American
Publishers and the AAP's pro-
fessional education in publish-
ing Committee. She has lectured
at universities, was appointed a
member of New York Univer-
sity's Book Publishing Advisory
Board and was honored by the

Parenting and child care
are among the target areas of
Newmarket Press' publishing
enterprise. As an example of
the company's interest in this
area, it has published a
three-part, • paperbacked
series, Your Child at Play.
Each of the books comes
illustrated with photographs,
including come of Newmarket
President Esther Margolis'
Detroit relatives. (Cousin
Tracy Heather Zimberg,
daughter of Sandye and Allen
Zimberg, adorns the cover of
the first volume. Tracy's
brother and sister, Jeffrey
and Rhonda, appear
elsewhere in the book.)
The first volume of the
series, Birth to One Year,
written by Dr. Marilyn Segal,
director of The Family Center
at Nova University, tells par-
ents or caregivers about the
laborator, Dr. Don Adcock,
the book is arranged by topic
because toddlers develop at
different rates. Topics include
hands on everything, empty-
ing and filling, new muscle
power, the timid explorer,
everyday routines, helping
Mom and Dad, going out in
public, everyday feelings,
physical games with one-
year-olds, playing with toys,
learning through language
and making friends through
play.
Drs. Segal and Adcock also
collaborated on the third vol-
ume of the series, Two to
Three Years, within which
one can learn how the young
child learns to get along in
the world.
Each of the books provides
a list of suggested related
readings and there is room at
the end of each for parental
notes.
The books are enlightening
for parents, for day-care
workers and those involved
in the raising, training and
caring fore babies and
toddlers. Even students of
human behavior will find the
Your Child at Play volumes
of great interest and of value
in studying the growth and
development of children.

baby grows. In addition,
there are exercises and
games to create more interac-
tion between themselves and
the baby.
The second book of the
series, One to Two Years,
looks at the daily develop-
ment of the child. According
