Hermine Weber, known to her
family and friends as "Oma,"
celebrated her '100th birthday
on Thursday. She resides with
her children, Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Roberg, in Oak Park.
Born in Germany, she spent
her early years in Kenten, a
locality 'in the Rhineland, where
her ancestors had lived for gen-
erations. Her first husband died
as a soldier in the German
Army in World , War I. In 1918,
she married Dr. Josef Weber, a
veterinary in Linnich, and im-
migrated in 1938 to Brazil,
where her son Rolf and daugh-
ter Ruth had found refuge a few
years earlier. Shortly after the
death of her second husband in
1948, she joined her daughter
Ilse and son-in-law Alex in De-
troit.
She corresponds with relatives
and friends all over the world.
Mrs. Weber has five
grandchildren and 28 great-
grandchildren.
In honor of the special birth-
day, a party will be held at
Young Israel of Oak-Woods on
Sunday. In addition to her local
grandchildren, Ezra and Naomi
Roberg, and their family and
her friends from Metropolitan
Detroit, the following guests are
expected• froth out of town:
