`warning Labels
To Rood Market

A top-level Wall Street execu-
tive is confident that within six
months, all American products
sold in the U.S. Will carry
"Warning" labels.
- "It's simply a matter of good
business," says Frank Greed of
Greed and. Gluttony Inc. "Ciga-
rettes carry a scary warning and
yet tobacco sales are up. Now
there's an effort under way to
rate record albums and Warn
potential buyers about sugges-
tive lyrics — that's _sure to in-
crease sales. So why stop there?
If reverse psychology works on
the American consumer, why
not exploit it?
An investigation by the
Jewish Blues found that, indeed,
virtually every industry in the
U.S. is preparing "warning"
labels for its products. A leading
donut manufacturer is rushing
into print millions of labels
which will read: "Caution: These
ingredients, when ingested, may
cause acne, at best. They may
also cause high blood ,pressure,
diabetes, obesity and can be-'
come addictive. So if you want
to look like the. Goodyear blimp
with zits, help yourself."
,. A major tuna fish canning
company has prepared a label
that reads: "Caution: This prod-
tict contains mercury. Buy two
cans and you'll be able to take
•YOur temperatute without a
thermometer."
_And finally, a leading man-
•ufactur- er of high school text
hocks is yeadyings the following
label for all of its junior high,
school texts: "Caution: The

enclosed material contains
sophisticated information that
may not be suitable for imma-
, ture readers, including adult
language (eight-letter words and
four-sentence ideas) and brief
lucidity. Parental discretion ad-
vised."

Klarsfeld Sure
On Mengele

Vienna (JTA) — Beate
Klarsfeld,. the German-born in-
ternational Nazi hunter, said in
Vienna last week she supported
the findings of an international
team of forensic experts who
'concluded that war criminal
Josef Mengele died in a swim-
ming mishap in 1979.
"I'm convinced Mengele is
-dead," Klarsfeld told some 220
members of the United' Jewish
. Appeal's Presidents Mission at a
gala dinner at- the' Hofburg
Palace. "And even if we cannot
be 100 percent certain that
Mengele is in the cemetery in
Sao Paulo, I think this case is
closed."
Regarding. another war crimi-
nal, Alois Brunner,. considered
by, many to be the, most wanted
former Nazi alive today,
Klarsfeld said he has been re-
ported last seen in Syria. But,
she added, "I think. Brunner is
no longer in Syria," although'
she said this information has
not yet been verified.
