Melvyn Bloom

Melvyn H. Bloom, executive
vice president of the American
Society for Technion-Israel In-
stitute of Technology, will ad-
dress the 37th annual dinner of
the ATS Detroit Chapter on
Monday at 6:15 p.m. at Adat
Shalom Synagogue. For infor-

Keynote speaker at the event
will be Winston S. Churchill,
the grandson of Prime Minister
Sir Winston S. Churchill, The\
younger Churchill is vice
president of' the British Techn-
ion Society and a member of the
House of Commons.
Bloom was a United Jewish
Appeal national executive for
the last 15 years prior to coming
to Technion in January 1985.
He became associated with
UJA as director of public rela-
tions in 1970, and then held
positions as chief operating offi-
cer, associate executive vice
chairman, national campaign
director and vice president.
As a chief, professional officer
of ATS, Bloom will oversee the
activities of some 65 chapters
nationwide and operations of ten
regional (dices.
Bloom serves on the executive
boards of the Conference of
Jewish Communal Service (and-
as chairman of its Israel Task
Force), the International Con-
ference on Jewish Communal
Service and the Association of
Jewish Community Organiza-
tion Personnel.

According to Article IX, Section 1 of the hospital's corporate by-laws:
"Nominations of persons as candidates for Trustees, who must in such
event be a member of the Special Membership Class, may also be made
by not less than fifty (50) members of the Special Membership Class• of
the Corporation who shall certify to the secretary in writing the names of
their nominee(s) at least ten (10) days before the annual meeting of the
Special Membership Class of the Corporation." Only one person.may be
nominated in each petition and no nomination shall be valid unless the
nominee shall have consented to be a candidate.

•Spedal Membership Class consists of those persons, who must be indi-
viduals, who have contributed and paid either to Sinai Hospital of Detroit
or to the JeWish Welfare Federation of Detroit, during the twelve (12) full
calendar months preceding the month in which the annual meeting of the
corporation is held for the election of trustees, money or property in an
amount or value ' of not less than One Hundred ($100.00) dollars. Those
persons granted honorary or life memberships in the Special Membership
Class are included in this classification.
