PRINTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AAWRICANS FOR A SAFE ISRAEL

WHO NEEDS TALKS? (by Meir Uziel)

Hussein wants peace? I am hereby affirming to His
Majesty: the issue Is settled. There Is peace. As for as
we're concerned tomorrow morning, or even tonight for
that matter, we will declare that we recognize the King-
dom of Jordan, admire it very much, promise to flood it
with tourists, and pledge never to attack it again. It is un-
derstood, of course, .that His Majesty will follow suit with
similar declarations. See, we have saved having "talks".
. . . What was there to talk about so much? Isn't it a waste
of time, Hussie? You wanted Peace. You have peace! So
tell me what else is new by you? . . .

U.S. Aid to PLO Groupssenator Jesse Helms together
with Senator Chic Hecht, sought to attack a rider to the
Foreign Aid Bill this May, which would ensure that
humanitarian assistance provided to Judea, Samaria and
Gaza are available to all residents, of those areas regard-
less of ethnic or religious origin.. .

The woman was taking advantage of the fact that
any Arab arrested for security reasons - for violence - can
reclaim money for lost days from a PLO-Jordanian Fund.
The Fund also subsidies Arab universities, pro-PLO news-
papers, housing and business loans out of an annual
budget of $150 million. Housing loans' are interest-free to
be paid back in 20 years.

On the Senate floor, Helms said: "When you put the
two policies together, you have a concerted effort to dis-
criminate agaist 'Israeli citizens living in Judea, Samaria
and Gaza. But it is even worse. Much of the U.S. aid to
Palestinian Arab. residents in Judea, Samaria and Gaza is
provided by voluntary organizations that channel funds to
a number of groups that support the goal of the PLO in
destroying Israel." .. .

Incident: An Arab woman from a village in Samaria
approaches an Israeli official with the following request:
her husband hod been arrested and she needed official
papers indicating his arrest. "Whot.for?" the Israelis asked.
"To get back reparations", she replied.

In addition, Helms attacked the policy of the State
Dept. in restricting Israel's aid by.prohibiting that it be sent
to Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (as well as Golan and
eastern Jerusalem) .. .

PLO-Jordanian Fund A common roadside view in
Judea and Samoriq is massive, extravagant Arab villas
under construction. Most Israelis who live in small apart-
ments on heavily taxed meager salaries, ask: Where is all
this money coming from? The PLO? Saudi Arabia? Tax-
free living?
