Jack Shenkman Jack Shenkman, honorary chairman of the -Lubavitch Foundation of. Michigan and .chairman of the 1985 endow- ment committee, announced that "Chai Endowment" donors will be honored at the forthcom- ing Emma Scheyer Tribute Con- cert and dinner to be held Nov. 20 at Detroit's Masonic Temple Theatre. Chairmen are Paul Borman and David Hermelin. Violinist Isaac Stern will be the guest entertainer. A year ago a r campaign was launched to recruit individuals to each establish their own $18,000 ("Chai") Endowment Fund for the Lubavitch Founda- tion. The sum may be paid out over a period of time, or may be in the form of stocks, properties or insurance policies. , Each Chai Fund established in an individual's name ("In honor of ...," "In memory of ...," etc.) maintains its identity in perpetuity. The principal remains un- touched, administered by prom- inent business executives of the committee. The "Chai" contribu- tion conveys to the donor life membership in Lubavitch. The organization will draw an an- nual income of about $2,000 from each . $18,000 fund. Currently, there are 64 .Chai donors. Each Chai donor will have his (or her) own table -- at no charge — at the dinner. In addition, each will be pre- sented with an "Ambassador of Torah" award. - For information about the endowment fund or the concert, call the Lubavitch Center, 548- 2666.
