Early Sabbath
Service Initiated
Early Sabbath prayers (ESP)
are being initiated once
monthly, beginning the last Fri-
day evening of the month, at
Cong. B'nai Israel of West
Bloomfield.
The service will be dedipted
to two family units each month.
These families will lead and
participate in varied portions of
the service.
The first ESP service will
take place on Oct. 25 at 6:15
p.m. Participating families are:
The Dr. Alan Feldman Family
and The Larry Weingarden
Family.
Arlene Weingarden, Joni
Feldman and Lauren Feldman
will recite the blessings over the
Shabbat candles; Dr. Feldman,
Weingarden, Steve Weingarden,
Don Weingarden and Gary
Weingarden will lead various
portions of the service and chant
the kiddush.
Adat Shalom Groups
Join For Meeting
Adat Shalom's Sisterhood and
Men's Club will join for their
annual meeting and social hour
on Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. in the social
hall. The evening will feature
Dr. Maurice Waters.
Dr. Waters is a professor of
political science at Wayne State
University. He has traveled ex-
tensively throughout Europe,
the Carribean and Latin
America. His most recent trips
have been to the Middle East,
the Soviet Union, Poland, Brazil
and Grenada. Dr. Waters will
discuss "Russia: Perceptions and
Misperceptions."
Ruby Kushner and Ron Mit-
nick will serve as chairmen of
the event. Everyone is welcome.

Lecture Series
At B'nai David
Cong., B'nai David's Institute
for Adult Education will kick off
its fall semester with a three-
week lecture series by Rabbi
Morton Yolkut on "Ethiopian
Jewry: Problems and Con-
troversy" 8:15 p.M. Tuesday at
the synagogue.
The series will continue with
programs slated for Oct. 29 and
Nov. 5. ,
The lecture series is free and
open to the public. For informa-
