ACTION SPRINKLER CO. 471-4331 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ INVESTOR $ $ $ $ $ Nearly 1,000 people — ages 6 to 86 — have already signed up to join in the Jewish commu- nity's We Walk As One on Oct. 13, at the Jewish Community Campus in West Bloomfield. To date, such organizations as Michigan State Temple Youth, United Synagogue Youth and B'nai B'rith Organization will be walking side-by-side in a show of solidarity to celebrate Detroit's partnership with Israel and the Jewish People. The Walk is being sponsored by the Jewish Welfare Federa- tion and The Jewish News in conjunction with a Community Fair to be held the same day. Set to begin with 1 p.m. regis- tration, the Walk will start at Hechtman Federation Apart- ments and cover an 18- kilometer (11-mile) route through the surrounding area. Participants may choose to walk the entire route or stop at any of ten checkpoints along the way, where "toe trucks" will pick them up and return them to the Jewish Comniunity Center. They will also have the option of participating in a mini-walk. For walkers seeking sponsors, the decidion of how far to walk will be made beforehand, as they choose a goal and ask sponsors to contribute a certain amount per kilometer. Contribu- tions will be collected from sponsors when they sign up, with walkers turning in their money at registration on Oct. 13.
