Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah will hold its opening
meeting at Temple Beth El on
Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30
p.m. in celebration of the 70th
anniversary of Detroit Hadas-
sah.
The evening program will be
held for those members who are
not able to attend the afternoon
session.
Ruth Gruber, internationally
known author, foreign corre-
spondent, and authority on the
Middle East will be the featured
speaker. As a writer for Hadas-
sah Magazine, she wrote the
column, "Diary of an American
Housewife."
Dr. Gruber's book, Raquela; A
Woman of Israel, was a winner
of the National Jewish Book
Award, and also a selection of
the Reader's Digest Book Club.
Presently it is being reissued.
Her latest book, Haven, is
being made into a TV movie.
She will autograph her books at
the end of the program.
Dessert and coffee will be
served. There is a charge.
Transportation and babysitting
will be provided by calling
Hadassah, 357-2920.
