Special Seminar
On Community

The communal affairs com-
mission of the Detroit Chapter
of the American Jewish Com-
mittee and the National Council
of Jewish Women will present
an afternoon seminar on "The
People are the Community: New
Reasons for Creating the Old
Neighborhood Feeling" at the
main United Hebrew Schools
building at 1 p.m. Oct. 27.
Participants will include Ann
Brooks, Ann Arbor housing con-
sultant: Richard Baron, interna-
tionally known planner of new
and recycled neighborhoods; Dr.
Bernard Chodorkoff, psychiatrist
and founder of the Michigan
Psychoanalytic Society and the
Society for Clinical Gerontology;
Richard Douglass, associate pro-
fessor of family medicine at
Wayne State University; Her-
man Frankel, Oakland County
real estate developer and
longtime advocate of the philos-
ophy of intergenerational hous-
ing; Alan Kandel, sociologist
and archivist; and Tim Winter-
mute, housing consultant, for-
merly director of housing, Na-
tional Council of Senior Citi-
zens, along with Evelyn
Hoffman Kasle, chairman of the
communal affairs commission
and consultant for non-profit
entities in the Detroit area.
There is an admission fee.
