dream of furrier Sam Offen to
visit his birthplace, Krakow, Po-
land, but because of such pain-
ful memories it took over 40
years.
He survived several ghettos
and concentration camps ... and
lived to visit them these many
years later ... Attending a Fri-
day night service at the only
active synagogue, over 300
years old, in Krakow, where he
was born ... Sam later recog-
nized a Polish gent who was his
former fellow inmate at one of
the concentration camps ... He
had remained in Poland after
liberation and is one of the
minority of Jews still left there
. . . Samis a member of the
"Krakow Friendship Society" of
New York ... its membership is
made up of Krakow survivors
helping to support and sustain
the remaining Jews in that city.
