Hadassah House
Dedicated Sunday

The dedication at 2 p.m. Sun-
day of the Sarah and Ralph
Davidson Hadassah' House, 5030
Orchard Lake Rd., West Bloom-
field, will also mark the 70th
anniversary of the Greater De-
troit Chapter of Hadassah.
Diane Klein is Hadassah
president. Evelyne Tobias has
compiled and written a 70-year
history of the organization.
Hadassah's new home, made
possible by a gift from Mr. and
Mrs. Byton (Dorothy Davidson)
Gerson, and William "Bill"
Davidson, in addition to other
gifts, was added to the holdings
of Hadassah House, Inc., the ac-
tual owners of the building,
which was formerly occupied by
the West Bloomfield Township
Public Library. The funds will
maintain the house in per-
petuity.
Phyllis Newman is president
of Hadassah House, Inc., and
chairman of the building com-
mittee.
There are administrative
offices, and specially designated
rooms in the Sarah and Ralph
Davidson Hadassah House.
There is the Fannie and Morse
Saulson Auditorium, the Lillian
and Frank Wetsman Reception
Area, and Mina and Theodore
Bargman Lounge and the
Suzanne and Jerome Kaufman
Family Conference Center.
Rabbi Irwin Groner of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek will affix the
mezuzah.

To the sale of advanced weapons to Jordan

Richard W. Murphy, Assistant Secretary of. State, has told the House Foreign Affairs Subcom-
mittee that "he could not report any significant progress on gaining King Hussein's agreement to
direct talks with Israel." Nevertheless, the Administration is determined to proceed with the sale
"even if it meant provoking a major clash with Congress" (N.Y. Times, Sept 11, 1985). King
Hussein's "peace-rhetoiic" is obviously designed merely to secure the American arms sale. Since
Congress is already on record in a "sense of Congress" resolution banning the, sale of advanced
weapons to Jordan, such sale is totally unwarranted now in view of Hussein's adamant refusal
to engage in direct and unconditional negotiations with Israel.
