ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA

METROPOLITAN DETROIT DISTRICT

PRESENTS

ALFOLIR

UJA, he was responsible for
enrolling in Israel's behalf a
group of prominent Americans
who have become important fac-
tors in services for Israel.
Zuckerman heads the move-
ment in Israel that provides,
homes and training for the re-
tarded and in that capacity he
again becomes a leader in a
movement that has made pro-
gress in the Israeli social serv-
ices.
He has also become an impor-
tant affiliate of the Magen
David Adom, the Israeli equiv-
alent of the Red Cross, and with
his wife Helen, his constant
supporter in all his tasks, the
Zuckerman name will soon be
displayed on a fully-equipped
MDA ambulance.
It is in the educational efforts
that Paul Zuckerman assumes
leadership. His identification
with the Hebrew University,
where he is a guest lecturer, is a
matter of record. His plans for
large-scale tasks in the Israeli
universities should soon be sen-
sational.
Such is the parade of _the de-
voted, the dedicated, the iden-
tified. Their march forward for
community and nation surely
has appreciative applause.

Mideast Foes
Take A Break

Jerusalem (JTA) — A tiny
aberration from the total hostil-
ity between Israel and Libya
took place earlier this month in
Milan, Italy. An Israeli diplomat
was active in draftng an inter-
national diplomatic document —
and a Libyan diplomat was
active in having it endorsed by
a United Nations Agency.
The event occurred at the
Seventh UN congress on the
Prevention of Crime and the
Treatment of Offenders.
The Israeli delegation, to-
gether with Australia and the
United States, drafted a resolu-
tion on domestic violence
entitled "Victims of Crime" and
the Second Committed of the
Congress, chaired by Libya,
adopted the resolution unanim-
ously.

Tel Aviv (JTA) — A would-be
Lebanese suicide car bomber
appeared at a press conference
in an IDF military compound, in
the south Lebanon town of Mar-

The man, Mohammed Awad
Masri, 26, a Shiite Moslem, had
driven - his car packed with a
quarter-ton of high explosives
towards an SLA (South Lebanon
Army) checkpost at the edge of
the security zone. The SLA men
ordered Masri and his teenage
passenger out for a security
check. The two were detained by
the soldiers.
The SLA unit fired an RPG at
the vehicle, which blew up. No-
body was injured in the blast.
