The mayor noted that ecu- menical services will take place on Oct. 5 in New York marking ' a "national day of mourning" for black South Africans and he suggested that this forum be used by leaders — especially non-Jewish leaders — to speak out against Farrakhan. Koch, in other remarks, noted that despite Farrakhan's anti- Semitic preachings, he "has the right to speak" at the rally. Farrakhan, head of the Chicago-based nation is Islam, propelled himself into the na- tional spotlight last year with his association with Rev. Jesse Jackson during the Democratic Presidential primary campaign. Later, Jackson dropped Far- rakhan from the campaign. But it was Farrakhan's anti- Semitic, anti-Zionist diatribes that drew much national atten- tion, and particularly angered the Jewish community. , Bomb Injures Israeli Woman Tel Aviv (JTA) — A home- made bomb slightly injured a woman in the main street of Acre, north of Haifa, Monday. Police detained about 20 sus- pects. In Jerusalem Sunday, a booby-trapped vehicle was safely dismantled in a street ix)• the ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim quarter. Police have repeated their ap- peal to the public to be on the alert for suspicious-looking ob- jects during the current holiday period. Meanwhile, a curfew was im- posed on A-Nabta township in the Samaria district of the West Bank after a gasoline bomb was thrown at an Israeli Vehicle. There were no injuries.
