New Liaison

Washington (JTA) — Max
Green, acting staff director of
the U.S. Commission on Civil
Rights, has been named by
President Reagan as his new
liaison with the Jewish commu-
nity. He replaces Marshall Bre-
ger, who last week was ap-
pointed by Reagan as chairman
of the Administrative Confer-
ence of the United States.
Green, 41, said Friday he ex-
pects to take up his new post
early next month after Succot.
Since the office of Public Liason
is being reorganized by the
White House, Green said he will
also be dealing with defense and
foreign policy issues.
Green, with the Civil Rights
Commission for two years, re-
placed the commission's staff di-
rector, Linda Chavez after she
was named earlier this year as
Reagan's deputy assistance for
public liason. He will thus be
working Chavez again in his
new job.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Green
grew up in Dallas. He graduated
from the University of Wiscon-
sin and received a Masters De-
gree from the New 'School for
Social Research in New York
City and a Law Degree from
Brooklyn College.
