GREATER DETR IT JE

In retrospect o Rosin said
his visit to Poland served as
proof that he had to become
more politically 'active. He
plans to minor in Judaic
studies in college and become
active in friends of Israel
organizations on campus.
The trip jarred Rosin emo-
tionally, but when he re-
turned to Michigan, he
couldn't share his feelings
with his family.
Rosin's mother, Sandy,
said the trip "affected him a
lot. The first week or two (af-
ter he returned) there was a
big change." He came back
and couldn't talk about the
trip, she said. But she felt
that he came back more
committed to his beliefs.
Ironically, Rosin traveled
to Israel this summer, a trip
arranged before he knew
about the journey to Poland.

and CANTOR" BEN ZION UNXNER
of CONG. BETH ABRAHAM HILLEL MOSES

'Comparing the two visits,
Rosin said that "one is a
death for us, and the other, is
very much a life."
• When viewing the Yad
Vashem Holocaust memorial
in Jerusalem, which he de-
' scribed as powerful, Rosin
said he realized the helpless-
ness of the Holocaust vic-
tims; they couldn't fight
leaving their
without
families. He found the trib-
ute to the Holocaust sur-
vivors and' victims moving,
but' felt that "a better
monument to the survivors is
the State of Israel itself."
Sandy Rosen believes her
son's experience will stay
with him for the rest of his
life. At Yale, Rosin plans to
continue studying the
Holocaust because "I don't
think even Jewish people
know enough about it."
