Warnick, and his great-grandmother Jean Warnick.

Matthew Warnick, of Niles,
Ill., wanted to celebrate his bar
mitzvah with his great-
grandmother, Jean Warnick,
but, because she is a resident of
the Jewish Home for Aged —
Borman Hall and for whom
travel would be difficult, the
family will celebrate Matthew's
bar mitzvah in Detroit.

Elizabeth Berkley, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Berkley of
West Bloomfield, will twin her
bat mitzvah with Tamara Mat-
veyev on Saturday. at Cong.
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses.

Tamara is the daughter of
Yakov and Divora Matveyev of
Voronerskaya Oblast RSFSR,
USSR. A farmer, Matveyev first
applied for an exit visa in 1975.
Shortly thereafter, he was put
in jail and kept there for some
time. Their passports were
withdrawn and travel is now
impossible for them.

Their eldest son was drafted
into the army, and the
authorities have accused Mrs.
Matveyev of being incapable of
rearing and educating her chil-
dren in the proper way (she is,

teaching them to believe in God,
to love their parents and their
homeland, Israel). The
authorities are threatening to
take her children away from
her.
Her mother lives in Israel.
