Michael Feldman
Ron Stone, president of the
Jewish Association for Retarded
Citizens, has announced that
Pearl Bailey will perform in a
benefit concert on Oct. 29 at 8
p.m. at Ford Auditorium.
Michael Feldman has been
appointed chairman of the major
fund raiser for the association.
Feldman has chaired JARC's
past two fund-raising events, An
Evening With Ben Vereen in
1984, and the screening of the
movie Charly in 1983. Feldman
is also a Vice President of the
organization and sits on its
executive committee.
Assisting Feldman are Sharon
Alterman and Harriet GelfQnd,
clerical committee chairmen;
Cheryl Guyer and Miriam Moss,
ticket sales chairmen; Nancy
Jacobson, afterglow chairman;
and Norman G. Wachler, spon-
sor solicitation chairman.
Spanning four decades, Ms.
Bailey's career has included
roles on stage, screen and tele-
vision, most notably that of
Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly!
Among her many academic, cul-
tural and humanitarian awards
around the world, Haddassah
bestowed on her the Woman of
Valor Award in 1977.
Funds raised from the event
will be used. to build and sup-
port homes and services for
mentally retarded men and
women of the Detroit commu-
nity.
On Sunday, more than 150
volunteers will gather to pre-
pare invitations to the Pearl
Bailey concert.
The volunteer rally, organized
by Ms. Guyer and Ms. Moss,
will be held at the main United
Hebrew Schools building, 21550
W. 12 Mile, Southfield, from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is in-
vited.
Fall Fest Slated
The fifth annual West Bloom-
field Fall Festival will be held
today through Sunday on the
Henry Ford Hospital site, Maple
and Drake Roads.
The festival, which features
food, games, crafts and
entertainment, will run 5-11
p.m. today; 10 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Saturday; and noon-9 p.m. Sun-
day. Admission is free and there
is a nominal charge for parking.
