The Giora Feidman Trio
The Labor Zionist Institute,
composd of Histadrut, Pioneer
Women/Naamat, Labor Zionist
Alliance and Habonim, will pre-
sent the Giora Feidman trio on
Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Feidman,
a
renowned
clarinetist, was born and edu-
cated in Argentina. He played
with Thater Colon in Buenos
Aires. He came to Israel in 1957
at the invitation of the Israel
Philaharmonic Orchestra where
he served until recently.
A fourth generation descen-
dant of a celebrated klezmer
family and recognized as, the
leading authority in Jewish folk
music, Feidman has devoted
himself to interpreting and per-
forming music of the Jewish
soul and spirit, past and pre-
sent.
Fiedman has appeared in con-
cert in Latin America, North
America, Japan, Australia,
Thailand and Europe. He has
performed widely in the United
States, participating in music
fairs and appearing on national
television. A London company
has made a TV feature film
based on the career and
achievements of Feidman. He
arranged and played the music
for the film The Seventh Match,
starring Mia Farrow, and was
involved in several other films.
In March 1981, he made con-
cert hall history at Lincoln Cen-
ter's Avery Fisher Hall in New
York, bringing a new dimension
to the clarinet repertoire includ-
ing classical along with Jewish
soul music.
Guitarist Jeff Israel has
attended Rutgers Univ4sity
and the Mannes College of
Music where he received a B.A.
degree. At Mannes he studied,
with Leonid ,Bolotine and con-
tinued his studies with Albert
Valdes Blain. He has partici-
pated in master classes with
Sergio Abreu and John
Williams.
In addition to concertizing as
a classical guitarist, Israel has
played in many musicals
throughout the east coast. He
teaches in New. York City at the
92nd Street; Y and 'at the
Bloomingdale House of Music.

Peter Weitzner earned B.M.
and M.M. degrees at the Juil-
liard School. His principal
teachers have included Alvin
Brehm, Julius Levine,' Homer
Mensch and John Schaeffer. He
was a fellowship student at the
Chautauqua and Waterloo Fes-
tivals and has been involved in
many premiers, including an
operatic version of Isaac
Bashevis Singer's Gimpel the
Fool by David Schiff
He is currently n member of
the new repertory ensemble and
has completed a recording of
new works for the Grenadilla
label. Weitzner has appeared on
numerous radio and television
programs and had toured
throughout the United States,
Canada and Europe with the
Giora Feidman Trio.
The concert is free and open
to the public. Tickets should be

Young Adult -Unit
Leader Is Named
Marsha Kelter has' been ap-
pointed staff associate
leadership development at
Jewish Welfare Federation,
where she will direct the Young
Adult Division.
Formerly, Kelter was an' ad-
ministrator at a group home for
developmentally disabled adults.
Her responsibilities included de-
veloping, implementing and
coordinating prdgrams for hard-
to-train adults.
She holds a masters degree in
management from Oakland
University, as well as a BA de-
gree in sociology.
Kelter lives in Huntington
Woods with her 14-year-old son,
Michael.
The Young Adult Division is
open to persons of post-college
age through their mid-30s. Its
focus includes education, leader-
ship development, service, fun-
draising and social activities.
