At a leadership dinner preced- ing the Selichot service, Rabbi BoTowitz will meet with the offi- cers and boards of the congrega- tion and affiliate groups. His topic is "Leading Indicators in Reform Judaism." _Professor of Jewish religious thought and education at He- brew Union College-Jewish In- stitute of Religion, Rabbi Borowitz is a proponent of cove- nant theology, a theory which envisions Judaism primarily in terms of personal relationships. He is editor of Sh'ma and the author of ten books, including The Mask Jews Wear; which re- ceived the 1974 National Jewish Book Award in the field of Jewish thought. He has been visiting professor at Columbia University, State University of New York, Prince- ton and Temple universities and the Jewish Theological Semi- nary. He was the first Jews to serve as president of the American Theological Society, and in 1982 was the first incumbent of the Harvard University Albert A. List Professorship of Jewish Studies. Rabbi Borowitz is a graduate of Ohio State University, was ordained at Hebrew Union Col- lege and holds two earned docto- rates, one from HUC, the other from Teachers College of Columbia University. His appearance at Temple Is- rael is sponsored by the Dr. Robert B. Goldberg Memorial Fund, created by Barbara Goldberg as a memorial to her husband. There is no charge for any of the programs and they are open to the community. A social hour at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, under sponsorship of the temple's Couples Club, is also open to the public. Intermarriage Workshops Planned The School for Human Rela tions will have workshops in in- termarraige beginning at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Birmingham Temple. Social workers Chuck Kramer and Judy Schneider, who serve as family therapists, will be the workahop facilitators. Persons contemplating inter- marriage, couples involved in intermarriage,arents of inter- married childn and offspring of intermarriage are invited. There is a tuition fee.
