Albanians Picket
Ethnic Festival
The Albanian American
Community of Detroit is .draw-
ing parallels to the Nazi
Holocaust in its protest on Sun-
day of the Yugoslavian ethnic
festival at Hart Plaza.
Gjok Martini, spokesman for
the group which represents 18
Albanian organizations in the
Detroit area, told The Jewish
News that Yugoslav oppression
of Albanians within its borders
is similar to Nazi Germany.
Since 1945, Martini says, the
Yugoslays have killed 75,000
Albanians within Yugoslavia,
and the Albanian language and
culture are banned.
Local Albanians plan to picket
across Jefferson from Hart
Plaza, claiming that the Yugos-
lav festival is financed by
Yugoslavia's Communist gov-
ernment. Martini said the Alba-
nian community told local
Yugoslav groups they would
participate in the festival if the
Yugoslav flag and the govern-
ment were not represented.
