Dan Kahn of Birmingham, general chairman of Metro De- troit State of Israel Bonds for the past two years and long time activist for the State of Is- rael, has been selected by the government of Israel to receive its "Gates of Jerusalem Medal" at the Tam-O-Shanter Country Club Israel Bond Dinner. The club's 13th annual event for Israel Bonds will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Tam ban- quet room. One of a few men to be hon- ored twice by the State of Israel, Kahn previously served for sev- eral years as president and board chairman of Detroit's American Technion Society as well as past president of Tam- O-Shanter Country Club. Founder of one of America's largest industrial supply com- panies, for over thirty years Kahn has helped develop trade between Israel's emerging fac- tories and the industries of the United States. The honoree was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and has lived in Michigan for over 50 years. Kahn attended Western Michigan and Wayne State Universities where he majored in speech and drama. He served in the United States Air Force as a B-29 engineer during World War II. While in the Air Force, he also served as the editor of the Tail Spinner, one of the largest D. Dan Kahn Air Force papers in the United States, and as the director, pro- ducer, writer and star of three different shows for the Western Flying Training Command. Since 1958, Kahn, president of Production Tool Co., has been active in developing the small tool trade between Israel and industrial firms in the United States and was one of the origi- nal importers of products from Israel.
