On Sunday, Oct. 13, the Jewish
Welfare Federation and The
Jewish News will sponsor a dou-
ble community event — We Walk
As One and Community Fair — in
celebration of Detroit's partner-
ship with Israel and the Jewish
People.
Under the direction of chair-
man Benjamin Rosenthal and co-
chairmen Alan Yost and Susan
Citrin, many volunteer hours
have gone into planning the mas-
sive event.
The Walk will begin at 1:30
p.m. at the Hechtman Federation
Apartments, located on the
Susan Citrin
Citrin, who is heading plans f
the Fair, noted that the spirit
the afternoon will enrich lac
partnership and create great
awareness of the many Jewi
services available in the Detro
area.
The entire community
encouraged to take part in t
Walk and the Community Fa
celebration.
For information and details
how to obtain a Walk registrati
kit, contact Allan Gelfond at t

Sen. Biden To Spea
At Bar-Ilan Dinner
grounds of the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Campus. Par-
ticipants may walk the entire
18-kilometer (11-mile) route
through the surrounding area, do
a mini-walk or stop at any of sev-
eral checkpoints along the way.
According to Rosenthal, this is
an opportunity for people of all
ages to come together in a demon-
stration of solidarity by raising
funds for humanitarian services
through the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.
There will be plenty of prizes
awarded, including those for wal-
kers who have signed up the most
sponsors. All participants will re-
ceive a free T-shirt and a certifi-
cate of thanks.
Following the Walk, the fun
and camaraderie will continue at
the Community Fair, scheduled
for 2:30 p.m. at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center. The
festivities will feature free
entertainment, food, door prizes
and display booths from area
organizations, synagogues and
Federation's member agencies.
