Ernie White Seeks
Council Position
Ernie White is seeking election
to the Southfield City Council, to
fill the term vacated by Council-
man Jim McDermott.
White was a former assembly
line worker at Briggs Manufac-
turing Co. and later became a
clerk-carrier for the U.S. Postal
Service. He headed Postal Work-
ers Local 261 after service in
World War II.
He held the post of foreman and
general foreman of mails at the
Detroit Post Office and was acting
employee relations officer for the
Chicago Region, prior to return-
ing to Detroit as superintendent
of office services at the Detroit
Post Office.
Following his retirement,
White became the executive di-
rector of the American Subcon-
tractors Association of Michigan.
White holds memberships in
Citizens for Better Care, Oakland
County Home Health Care Coali-
tion and Comprehensive Health
Planning Council of Southeastern
Michigan.
He also is a panelist for the
American Arbitration Associa-
tion, medical malpractice section.
