C
olor, pattern, shine — that's
the footwear message for fall
1985. Paisleys and florals
are printed on a variety of
materials: leather, suede, velvet and
silk. Paisley patterns are embossed on
leather, used as appliques and under-
lays. There are tapestries, damasks,
brocades and jacquards.
Patterns range through all stylings —
court shoes and slippers, pumps and
boots. These patterned shoes com-
plement the new daywear fashions,
give a spirited lift to sleek sportswear,
add luxury and texture interest to all-
black dressing.
Colors are also dramatic, with the
emphasis on rich jewel tones. Red and
berry, purple and blue, wine and green
are exciting in high-gloss leathers,
startling in shiny patent, lustrous in
suede.
There is a smart smattering of winter
pales, especially effective in sleek
weekend boots. Classic earth tones
look good in burnished and pebble-
grained leathers. Ever-popular black is
glossy in patent, and a livelier tone of
navy looks handsome in boots and
evening shoes.
Shine, whether in all-over metallics
for day or night, or as metallic washes,
trims, quarters or appliques on shoes
,
Vivid paisley provides
fashion excitement to fall
footwear In three new
colors — bronze, red and
navy, and silvery grey.
