• MAIL DEPT. ... "I recently
returned from a great trip to
San Diego. My hosts were
Harold and Marilyn Laine and
their, son, Marc, all former resi-
dents of Oak Park. I resided at
their beautiful Scripps Ranch
estate. Hospitality and good
home cooking were plentiful.
Fresh air, scenic mountain
views, a community swmiming
pool and Jacuzzi, and no one
beeping their horns were among
the positive observations I made

during my stay."
Elliot B. Rich
ON BEING TOLD that her
luggage was overweight, friend
of Barbara Stone overheard gal
asking the airline reservation
clerk at. Metro if she could write
him a check for the extra
amount ... He said yes, provid-
ing she had identification, such
as a driver's license ... "I don't
have one," she mumbled. "But
wait! Here's a ticket I got for
driving without one!" United
clerk accepted the•check.
IF OUR FRENCH ... poodle
Coco could drive or talk, this
would be his corner ... so we'll
lake over for him with the one
about snobbish gal walking into
a pet shop and telling owner she
wanted the finest dog he had ...
The boss showed her several of
his prize animals but she wasn't
satisfied. Finaly, he picked up
an adorable little pup and
handed it to her ... "Is he
pedigreed?" she asked .
"Pedigreed?" said the dealer, "If
he could talk, he would't speak
to either of us."
LOOKING BACK ON Col-
umns of Yesteryears ...
Nov. 5, 1965 ... Fellow drove
into Charlie Robinson's Shell
Service Station to complain that
he couldn't turn off his radio ...
When Charlie asked him to step
out of the car, he noticed that
the music followed him ... and
told the motorist to look in his
pockets He did, pulled out a
transistor radio, thanked Char-
lie and drove off in peace and

quiet.
