Bar-Ilan Shabbat Set

Bar-Ilan Shabbat will be ob-
served throughout the met-
ropolitun area on Aug. 24. Some
25 area congregations will take
part in this observance, it was
announced by Sherman Shapiro,
the university's Detroit-area
synagogue liaison.
The Bar-Ilan Shabbat marks
the community's recognition of
the university, which has a stu-
dent body of nearly 13,000 and
requires that each take a quar-
ter of his or her curriculum in
Judaica. It has become the
largest center of Jewish educa-
tion in the world.
The observance is a prelude to
Bar-Ilan's annual dinner, to be
held Sept. 10 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek. Guest- speaker will be
