Crockett Still
Favors Talks

In a letter to one of his Jewish
constituents earlier this month,
U.S. Rep. George W. Crockett
(D-Detroit) reiterated his advo-
cacy of open dialogue with the
PLO.
"I regret that you and possibly
others of my Jewish friends dis-
agree with my views concerning
the Middle East situation," the
Congressman said in a letter to
Clara Raven. "I've visited the
area four times. My conclusions
are based not upon reading the
views of others — though I've
done quite a bit of that —but
rather upon my own observations
and conversations with both the
leaders and the ordinary people in
the area.
"There can be no peace in the
Middle East that does not recog-
nize Israel's right to exist; a Pales-
tinian homeland of the West Bank
and Gaza; and self-determination
for the Palestinian people.
"My advocacy — with which
you apparently disagree has
been confined to the simple pro-
position that talking (emphasis
CrockeWs) with the responsible
representatives of the Palestinian
people is a necessary first step to a
just and lasting peace in the
region. . ."

A tribute: the gift that brings joy
before it's ever received.

When you honor someone close to you with a JARC tribute — for a
bar mitzvah, birthday, anniversary, memorial, or special occasion —
you'll be bringing them joy.
But before they ever open their tribute, your gift will be bringing joy
to people you've never met. People at the Jewish Association for
Retarded Citizens.
You'll be helping those people realize their dream of living a life of
quality, pride, and dignity. And helping keep hope alive for the
hundreds of others waiting for a home.
Send a JARC tribute today. M a very special gift that brings joy
before its ever received.

Order your tribute from
