Sherwin Tukel, attorney and
community leader, was elected
president of Metropolitan Detroit
District, Zionist Organization of
America, at the organization's
annual meeting.
Vice Presidents are Sidney
Brand, Judge Benjamin Fried-
man, Dr. Jerome S. Kaufman,
Mrs. I. Walter (Anne) Silver and
Dr. Leon H. Warshay.
Ezekiel Leikin was named
executive vice president, Norma
T. Hudosh, treasurer and Mrs.
Pauline Klein, secretary.
Tukel succeeds Leonard Her-
man, who will serve as chairman
of the board and executive com-
mittee.
Named to the board of directors
were: Mr. and Mrs. Abraham
Burnstein, Johanna Eisenberg,
Mrs. Joni Feldman, Dr. Sheila
Lampert, Dr. and Mrs. Leon
Lucas, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Michlin, Dr. Nathan H. Moss,
Seymour Rabotnick, Leonard
Radner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Rosenbaum, Jeffrey Sherman, Dr.
and Mrs. Sion Soleymani and Mr.
and Mrs. David Solomons.
Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Shapiro
were named honorary directors of
the board.
A holder of Juris Doctor degree
from Wayne State University
School of Law, Tukel also has a
master's degree in history from
the University of Michigan and a
teaching certificate from the
WSU School of Education. He
serves as chairman of the crimi-
nal law committee, Oakland
County Bar Association; criminal
law committee, State Bar of
Michigan and on the speakers
bureau of the Oakland Bar Asso-
ciation. He is also investigator
and special counsel to the Attor-
ney Grievance Commission of the
State Bar of Michigan.
Tukel served as co-chairman of
ZOA's public affairs committee,
chairman of the speakers' bureau
and first vice president of Metro
Detroit ZOA.
