The Detroit board of the Ameri-
can Committee for the Weizmann
Institute of Science has chosen
philanthropist Irwin Green as its
1985 Man of the Year. A dinner in
his honor will be held on Sept. 4 at
the Hyatt Regency.
Green, winner of the 1981 Fred
M. Butzel Award for Distin-
guished Community Service, has
long been associated with causes
on behalf of the Jewish commu-
nity and the State of Israel. Green
is a past chairman of the Allied
Jewish Campaign, a past
president of United Jewish
Charities and past chairman of
the 1973 Detroit-Israel Trade
Fair.
He is a trustee of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, and of the Sinai Hospital

The Specialty Village, dramatic
arts students of Camp Maas will
present a musical revue, Yankee
Doodle, to the general public on
Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the DeRoy
Studio Theater at the main
Jewish Community Center. Ad-
mission is free.
The program is directed by Jef-
frey Seller and with music di-
rected by Andrew E. Lippa. The
revue was written by Aurand
Harris.
The cast, comprised of 14 and 15
year olds from the metropolitan
area, includes Ben Blau, Perah
Burns, Amy Cohen, Rachel Golds-
tein, Liz Greenberg, Yael
Hoffman, Sharon Kallick,
Micheile Katkowsky, Karen
Kron, Lisa Kuppersmith, Eugene
Maley, Nicki Marlowe, Stacey
Schwartz and Jenni Wasserman.

Proceeds from the dinner will
be directed toward a soon-to-be-
launched Irwin Green Fund for
Research in Aging of the Brain at
the institute's Center for Neuros-
ciences and Behavioral Research.
Prof. David Samuel, the director
of the center, will be a guest of the
Detroit Committee at a meeting
on Aug. 1.
The Sept. 4 dinner will be
chaired by Paul Borman, Daniel
Honigman, and Robert Sosnick.
Marlene Borman, Lois S.
Freeman, Bethea Green and Julie
Levy are handling dinner ar-
rangements. Sosnick is chairman
of the Detroit board of directors.
