If You've Never Been To
Mario's ... Ask Mom and Dad

Enjoy "OPERA NIGHT" Friday evenings 7 p.m.
With Dino Valle & Jan Rae

. . . Reid built it into a greenhouse
effect . . . with seating and stand-
ing at both types of tables for
about 80 people . . . Folks get their
food from any area eatery and are
permitted to bring it into the
tavern when they purchase
drinks there.
His tavern has fresh seafood,
side dishes, mushroom soup and
soup of the day (both made by
Chef Milos Cihelka at Golden
Mushroom) . . . It overlooks Tele-
graph Rd. from large windows .. .
and has its own separate entrance
. . . Hours are being played by ear,
so to speak, but present definite
ones have Mainstreet Tavern
open seven days . . . Within couple
of weeks, it may remain open
until 2 a.m. Monday-Saturday .. .
Sunday mall hours of noon to 6
p.m. are same as Reid's.
His other operation at Restau-
rants on Main Street, Gourmet
Ground, has been re-named . . . It
is now called Mainstreet Grille
. .. with hamburgers, sloppy Joes,
Philadelphia steak sandwich,
small steak, etc. . . . Soon will be
standing round for roast beef
sandwiches.
WHO'S WHERE DEPT....
Versatile pianist Charles Row-
land is at Airport Inn on Highland
Rd., across from Pontiac Airport,
Tuesday-Saturday . . . Alexander
Zonjic plays his jazz flute Friday
night at P'Jazz Concerts of Hotel
Pontchartrain til Aug. 4.
PREMIERE CENTER, Van
Dyke and 14 Mile, will be site of
4th Capuchin Souper Summer
Celebration, July 26 . . . with
Jerry Ross Band . . . and $15,000
in prizes raffled off for the
Capuchin benefit.
CHEF JIM MAIER, former
sous chef at Bloomfield Hills
Country Club, has produced new
lunch and dinner menu at Jim's
Garage, W. Larned .. Chef
Maier and bossman Jim Constand
describe it as Nouvelle American
... with emphasis on fresh local
fish, fowl and meat products . . .
using unique combinations of
Michigan wild berries, cattail
shoots, morel mushrooms, leeks
and fiddlehead ferns for distinc-
tive flavoring ... Jim's Garage is
open for breakfast, lunch and
dinner Monday through Friday
. . . Dinner only on Saturday.
IT'S NOW CALLED R.I.K.'S
. . . That's new name of Glorious
Food in Bloomfield Plaza, Tele-
graph and Maple Roads . . . with
same cuisine, catering, speciality
ingredients, wines and imported
beers ... Reason Glorious Food
changed its name to R.I.K.'S was
to avoid confusion with an exist-
ing Glorious Food in New York
and Washington, D.C.. . . R.I.K.'S
is an acronym for the first initials
of the three owner's names . . .
Rick Halberg, Ira Mondry and
Ken Fink.
THE LATIN BEAT goes on at
Troy Hilton's Summer Nights
' concerts as Toronto's famous
Coconut Groove band performs
tonight . . . The seven-member
band, with three female back-up
singers, gives out with Latin,
funk and reggae numbers that re-
flect their various national ori-
gins in the West Indies, Guyana,
