Mary's sauce, of course) ... Stage
and Co., also on Orchard Lake

sented with its noted creamy
chopped liver . . . Dee Shapiro
brought her smoked Scotch sal-
mon and special pumpernickel
bread sold at Shopping Center
Market ... Marcia Silverman

Gigi Rivkin, 15, lit the
fireworks ... Billy, 19, gave
skateboard exhibition ... Kelly
Burgess posed for picture by
neighbor Jerry Mikowski's
$62,000 Phantom auto . . . Bob
Silverman with Coca Cola in his
lap as rare bit of wind blew glass
from patio table . . . Dorothy
Dickman enjoying everyone .
Estelle Nelson, batik artist whose
exhibitions of sophisticated fabric
dyeing have been shown hereab-
outs, among the admirers of Mar-
vin's chairs ... She is one of first
women grads from University of
Detroit Law School . . . A huge bit
of artistry sits on the back lawn
without back or seat . . . as a noted
Rivkin landmark . . . Same artist
made chair in Rivkin family room
. smaller and with seats and
back ... Only darkness could stop
bridge game of Dr. Marshall
Shapiro and Edith Rivkin against
Evelyn and Bob Richards ..
Edith is with Southfield Bridge
Club of Parks and Recreation
Dept. that draws so many people.
Nothing better than a good re-
laxing time with real nice people!
CONGRATS ... to Trudy and
Harold Shapiro ... on their 25th
annis ersary ... Evening of sur-
prises were planned by daughters,
Lori, 21, and Linda, 16 ... with
parents dressed in outfits pre-
sented by them ... and tuxedo'd
driver in white limo with cham-
pagne took them to Landsdowne
for dinner ... Then back home for
party with 40 relatives and
friends who had done decorations
while they were at dinner.
TESTIMONIAL RESOLU-
TION by Detroit City Council to
Harry Nelson ... is "its admira-
tion and appreciation for his
many, many years of outstanding
dedication and service to this
community and state." ... Harry
worked with and supported cam-
paigns of local and state political
leaders in Democratic Party.
"WHO'S MINDING the
store?" writes Faye B. Weiner .. .
about Michigan Club in Delray
Beach, Fla. . . . President Carl
Wolf and wife, Lil, Vice President
Faye and hubby Fred, are here
"escaping the torrid Delray heat"
. . . A fifth anniversary bash of the
club is planned . . . "Marilyn
Fischer's specialty of artichoke
appetizers and mushroom rolls
disappeared in a flash at the West
Bloomfield open house celebrat-
ing bat mitzvah of Andrea Miller.
Arriving for the event were:
Charles Rothschild from Es-
tagada, Ore.; Beatrice Servetter,
Chula Vista, Calif.; Mark and
Fran Fischer, Sunrise, Fla., and
Faye and Fred."
SANDY SAWLE, manicurist
at Tamara's Institute de Beaute
on Northwestern, believes in
manicures that encompasses
massaging of hand to stimulate
blood circulation ... "It keeps the
nails healthy, too," says Sandy,
whose fine manicuring ways are
gaining much note.
NO WONDER people like to
walk into Erella's on The
Boardwalk, Orchard Lake Rd.,
south of Maple ... so clean, such
wonderful pleasant aroma from
all the perfumes and colognes .. .
It's owned by Erella Benvenisti,
as pleasant a person as you'll ever
meet . . . and that pretty young
lady there is lovely, congenial
Donna McLellan, who everyone
also likes so much ... She was
trained six months by Jeffrey
Bruce, and is in charge of cosme-
tics at Erella's.
LOOKED LIKE SHE had
come in from a hard day weeding
the lawn ... or fertilizing it ...
with baseball cap and sneakers
. .. but it was Mayor Charlotte
Rothstein, the wily government
head of Oak Park . . . looking any-
thing but a communal leader .
She came into city hall after her
morning runabout.
BALFOUR BALL is set for
Oct. 27 at Ford Auditorium .
Entertainment will be Robert
Cleary (Hogan's Heroes) etc. Flo-
rian ("Hot Canary") Zaback and
an excellent Israeli songstress,
says chairman Max Sosin . It'll
be the eighth year for orchestra
leader Mack Pitt, with whom
entertainers love working ... The
Balfour crowd pleasers need just
one rehearsal with Mack ... and
put on an always fine show.
LOOKING BACK on Columns
of Yesteryears ...
OCT. 29, 1965 ... "They say
lightning never strikes twice in
the sameplace, but Arnie Aisen
only believes half of it at his Hol-
lywood Mirror Gallery in Green-8
Shopping Center . . . A few
months ago, we wrote about a box
of glass falling from its hoist and
crashing downward ... without a
single piece breaking . It hap-
pened again last week ..;. This
time, however, there was broken
glass."
