Rochelle and Dr, Raymond Weitzman

Dr, and Mrs, Raymond
(Rochelle) Weitzman of West
Bloomfield have undertaken the
reclamation of five dunams of
land (11/2 acres) in the Galilee
under the auspices of the Jewish
National Fund,
The Weitzmans recently met
with Col, Arlo Shacham, former
deputy commander of the artil-
lery corps of the Israel Defense
Forces, and with Ed Rosenthal,
executive director of JNF of De-
troit, The colonel shared the need
to reclaim northern Israel in order
that families can move and/or re-

locate to this part of the coun-
try,The Galilee population is
more than two-thirds Arab and
one-third Jewish, Shoehorn em-
phasized that this effort' in land
reclamation is important not only
for economic reasons, but for Is-
rael's security needs as well,
The project will bear the name
of Dr, Weitzman's late father and
will be known as the Allen
Weitzman Memorial Section.
