The action last week reflects a re- cord total of $22.2 million for the 1985 Campaign. allocation, largest The $11,805,880 to the United Jewish Appeal for Israel and overseas needs, represents an increase of $901,000 over the previous year. UJA's major beneficiaries in- clude the Joint Distribution Committee, which operates schools, canteens and other life- saving functions in 30 countries; and the United Israel Appeal, which funds such Jewish Agency services as immigrant absorp- tion, rural settlement, youth care and higher education in Israel. A total of $6,562,101 will go to local beneficiaries of the Jewish Welfare Federation. This repre- sents an increase of $387,844 over last year. Services that fall under the culture and education category received $3,009,295 of the $6.5 million total, an increase of $170,000. These agencies in- Continued on Page 10
