Shaye, Sylvia Jaffe, Merle Harris, Arnold Faudman, Edythe Jackier, Joseph Garson, Helen Shevin and Gilbert Silverman. Daitch reported on recent in- novations in agency programm- ing. He noted that the agency's Group Apartments for the El- derly Project now includes six apartments, with 18 residents, and that the agency's new In- Home Respite Care Program, supported by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B and the Max M. Fisher Jewish Community Foundation, is currently helping 29 caretakers of frail, homebound individuals, mostly aged. In addition, the agency has dispersed $95,000 of Federal Emergency Management Agency funds for food to indi- viduals and families in need, as supplement to financial assis- tance grants from the agency's regular operating budget. Stollman reported that RS has resettled 15 immigrants from the Soviet Union from June 1984 to May 1985, and that 194 families were provided counsel- ing and volunteer services dur- ing the year. In addition, the agency continued to assist Holocaust survivors in the proc- essing of indemnification claims against the West German gov- ernment for crimes committed by the Nazis. Executive Director Samuel Lerner noted in his annual re- port that in 1984 Jewish Family Service served: • 3,635 families, of whom 1,211 were aged; • 16 children in placement — in foster homes, adoptive homes, and residential facilities; • an average of 172 clients per week with kosher Meals-on- Wheels; • 213 clients of all ages who were seen in 786 group therapy sessions; • 23 families who have been provided with rent subsidies through the Housing Relocation Project; • through the volunteer serv- ices department, a total of 13,425 hours of service to Jewish Family Service and Re- settlement Service clients, utilizing 172 volunteers.
