52 YEARS AGO, July 4, at
Strong's Dance Pavilion on Cass
Lake, Moe Miller introduced
himself to Lena Levenson .
and they danced the entire eve-
ning looking into each other's
eyes ... Two years later, July 4,
Moe and Lena were wed at
Shaarey Zedek on Chicago Blvd.
with reception for 150 people at
Lacher's on 12th St.
Recently, 150 people watched
with tear-drop emotion as Moe
and Lena were "remarried" by
Rabbi Milton Arm at Cong.
Beth Achim ... Moe and Lena
lovingly walked down the aisle
as guest Mary Freedland beauti-
fully sang "Because" accom-
panied by Frank Paul ... Wed-
ding party consisted of sons Dr.
Ron Miller and wife Laura and
Fred Miller and wife Arlene ...
Lena and Moe spoke to each
other with thanks for 50 won-
derful years . . . in a deeply-
touching moment of supreme
devotion.
Cantor Max Shimansky
chanted over a glass of wine
from which they again drank
(no stepping on glass this time)
... Their original flower girls
attended ... Shelly (Biberman)
Maliniak and Estelle (Biber-
man) Williams, plus one of the
bridesmaids, Ceil (Nusenbaum)
Schwartz ... Dorothy (Leven-
son) Fox, then maid of honor,
was to have come in from San
Diego, Calif. but had spinal op-
eration.
It was a gala reception ... as
Frank Paul Quartet did magni-
ficent job of entertaining people
for listening and dancing . . .
Frank has gotten even better
than ever ... which says a lot
... Dinner by Henry Sperber of
Sperber Kosher Caterers was
enjoyed by everyone ... even
those who didn't exactly admire
kosher cooking because of its
supposed blandness ... What-
ever Henry's cooks did with that
roast chicken it was superb ... I
know they marinate it over-
night, and the moist delicious-
ness was most enjoyable ...
Everyone at our table ... Mur-
ray and Golda Hartz, Esther
King, Dave Reznick, Gert and
Herb Rosen, Judge Nathan
Kaufman and my wife Frieda,
all sang praises to the chicken
and fish by Sperber's.
Irving Tyner did hamoetze
over bread for crowd ... and
Judge Nate Kaufman the cutup
at our table ... Julius Green
who left Detroit 26 years ago is
still in St. Petersburg ... and
has never looked better ...
Peggy Sperber, Henry's grand-
daughter, was one of the bar-
maids ... Max Somberg, Mary
Freedland and Frankie Paul
sang trio in lobby before recep-
tion . . . Goldie Hartz putting
margarine on her radish and
saying, "Doesn't talk back to
you" ... Hilda and Jack Erman
asked when they would celeb-
rate their 50th and Jack said
two years ... Hilda insisted
three years ... She was right as
Jack shrugged his shoulders as
if to say, "As usual" ... Max
Sosin emceeing festivities and
table-hopping with jokes old and
new.

CONGRATS . . . to Sheila
and Arthur Schussler ... on
their 40th anniversary ... Was
celebrated recently at La Rotis-
serie in Hyatt Regency ... with
their children, Sonya and Nor-
man Cohn, Marilyn and Dr.
Robert Dale and Suzanne and
Dr. Mark Zwiren Congrats
... to Lou and Ruth Kasdan
on their 48th anniversary ...
celebrated recently with group
of 33 in Madrid, Spain ... Con-
grats ... to Rosalie and Al
Dubin ... on their 50th an-
niversary.
THANKS . . . to Debbie
Fischer ... at Oak Park District
Court 45-B ... for bringing us
coffee in a regular cup, not
styrofoam ... during recent,
always-pleasant visit with 45-B
judges Marvin Frankel and Ben
Friedman.
DIANE AND NORM GUS-
SIN can't believe that son Brian
has graduated high school al-
ready (Southfield-Lathrup)
Grandmother Lillian Rosen
can't either ... It doesn't seem
that long ago when sister Lil
was wondering about time fly-
ing as Diane herself graduated.
BELATED CONGRATS
to our son Scott Raskin and
daughter-in-law Bonnie ... in
Atlanta, Ga. ... on their first
anniversary ... to nephew and
niece Drs. Barry and and Nancy
Rosen of Suncook, N.H. on their
eighth anniversary.
INSTALLATION DINNER-
DANCE by Knights of Pythias,
Detroit Lodge 55 is June 30, 7
p.m., at Castle Hall on Coolidge
. . . Call Frank Selman, 543-
7287 or K of P, 541-9223.
DR. MANNY GREEN past
master, recently received 40-
year life membership pin from
Perfection Masonic Lodge.
DAVID HARON recently
was given Mumford High School
Distinguished Alumnus Award
at Mumford's graduation ...
Award was for role in successful
Mumford Phys. Ed. Dept. Fund
Raising program which raised
over $70,000 for the school and
additional sums for Det. Public
Schools in general ... He and
Sheldon Kay were responsible
for the grand total, with sales of
Mumford High T-shirts like
Eddie Murphy wore in Beverly
Hills Cop plus hats,socks, etc.
and monies going to their
former school ... Both are local
barristers.
CONGRATS ... to Sid Burk
. . . on his 60th birthday - .
celebrated at Wabeek Clubhouse
with about 100 friends and rela-
tives ... Son Steven and wife
Jenny came in from Israel and
daughter Wendy from Hawaii.
CONGRATS ... to Carol and
Len Moss on their 37th anniver-
sary ... to Rose and Al Smith
... on their 58th anniversary.

Ileene and Seymour Zate, repre-
sented graduating class of
Michigan State U ... delivering
response following presentation
of senior class council by Michi-
gan State U. President Cecil
Mackey ... Ronald learned last
week that he had also made the
dean's list at Michigan State ...
He'll attend law school in fall.
