HERBERT MARGOLIS Who passed away June 11, 1984. Always remem- London (JTA) — Terence Prit- tie, one of Israel's most distin- guished and gifted non-Jewish supporters in Britain, has died. Mr. Prittie, who was 71, had spent many years as the West German correspondent and dip- lomatic correspondent of the Guardian newspaper when, 15 years ago, he decided to devote himself full time to presenting Israel's case to the British media. A prolific author, his many works incuded biographies of Is- raeli Premier Levi Eshkol and West German Chancellors Kon- rad Adenauer and Willy Brandt. He was particularly active in trying to combat the Arab boycott and wrote a book on this subject, co-authored with Walter Nelson, entitled "The Economic War Against the Jews." During World War II, Mr. Prittie was mentioned in dis- patches for bravery from. Calais in 1940. In the same year he was captured by the Germans and made six attempts to escape from POW camps. C. Colen, Headed Firm Chester L. Colen, president of Madison Electric Co., died June 4 at age 67. Born in Detroit, Mr. Colen was president of the company since 1963. He joined the com- pany in 1939. Mr. Colen was a member of the board of directors of the Na- tional Association of Electrical Distributors. He also was on the board of directors of the Wayne State University Press. Mr. Colen was a past president and board member of the Detroit Chapter, Brandeis University. He was a member of Craftsman Lodge of the Masons and founding member and former board member of Temple Israel. He leaves his wife, Eileen "Cookie"; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sheri) Jaffa of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Joseph (Judi) Schneider; a sis- ter, Mrs. Mignon Harris of Cas- selberry, Fla.; and six grandchildren. Furrier Nathan Bloom Nathan Bloom, a furrier, died June 4 at age 89. Born in New York City, Mr. Bloom was the . regional man- ager for Henry Rose Furriers, which was sold to Sears Roebuck. He then became the manager of one of the store's fur departments. He was a furrier for 50 years. In 1976, he became an artist painting still life and creating collages. He was honored by Max Katz, an electrical con- tractor, died June 1 at age 62. Born in Kenosha, Wis., Mr. Katz was the founder and owner of Anchor Electric. He was a past master of the Oak Park Masonic Lodge, a past master of Craftsman Lodge of the Masons, past president of the Crescent Shrine Club and a member of the Moslem Temple, with which he was active in efforts to bene- fit crippled children and the children's burn center. He also was a member of B'nai B'rith, Cong. Beth Shalom and past president of its men's club. Contractor Max Katz IN MEMORIAM In loving memory of OBITUARIES by mother, Yetta Kalisher Bucharest Rebbe New York (JTA) — The Bucharester Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel Deutsch, died June 3 at age 78. He was one of the last Chasidic rebbes to leave Romania for the United States after the Communist takeover. He came here in 1962. National Electrical Contractors Association. He leaves his wife, Norma; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Marlene) Malkin; a son, Marshall; and three grandchildren. James Wooten, Rescued Jews Orlando, Fla. — James A. Wooten, an airline president who directed the transport of Yemeni Jews to Israel in 1949, died May 31 at age 71. During his tenure as president of Alaska Airlines, he directed Operation Magic Car- pet, which flew 45,000 Yemeni Jews from Aden in southwest Arabia and others from Shan- ghai to Israel. Later, he established his own airline and airlifted more Jewish refugees from Iran and Iraq to Israel. Israel Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion awarded him for his efforts. r .
