Prisoner Exchange
Is Condemned

The Midwest spokesman for
Kach-Thus, the political party of
Rabbi Meir Kahane, unequivoc-
ally condemns the release of
1,150 convicted Arab terrorists
by the Unity Government
headed by Prime Minister Shi-
mon Peres.
The results of this spineless
act of secret negotiation with
the Palestine Liberation Organ-
ization (PLO) demonstrates: a)
the moral unfitness of the Unity
Government for continued gov-
erning, b) its lack of concern for
the safety of the Jewish citizens
it purports to protect, and 3) its
unwillingness to further the
Zionist goal of reclaiming the
Jewish heartland.
No Jew in Israel or in the lib-
erated territories is now safe
from the Arab killers so recently
unleashed. Those of the Unity
Government responsible are ac-
complices future Jewish
deaths ...
We demand the rearrest and
imprisonment of all Arabs re-
leased within Israel and the un-
incorporated territories of
Judea-Samaria and the Gaza
District. Their release was done
under duress and extortion and
is of no validity.
We demand the release of all
Jewish political prisoners, some
known as the Jewish Under-
ground. Their sole offense was
to defend their lives, families,
homes, and settlements from
persistent, recurring Arab
harassment and attack. It is the
Unity Government which bears
the onus of failure to fully and
effectively
provide protection for
e
its Jewish citizens in their
peaceful pursuit of the Zionist
goal of reclaiming the Jewish
heartland of Judea-Samaria,
and the Gaza District .. .

U.S. Envoy
Steps Down

Jerusalem (JTA) — Samuel
Lewis, the U.S. Ambassador to
Israel since 1977, ended his
eight-year tour of duty at a gala
party given by Premier Shimon
Peres at the Prime Minister's
residence in Jerusalem Monday
night.
Almost the entire Cabinet
attended the buffet supper in
Lewis' honor, the last in a long
series of farewell events. Only
two ministers were absent. De-
fense Minister Yitzhak Rabin, a
close friend of Lewis, is abroad.
Minister of Commerce and In-
dustry Ariel Sharon, who has
publicly blamed Lewis for the
failure of U.S. policy in Leba-
non, also stayed away.
As a departing gift, Peres
gave Lewis and his wife, Sally,
a huge album devoted to the
late David Ben Gurion, the first
Prime Minister of Israel. Peres
wrote the text. The accompany-
ing art was by Israeli artist,
Yaacov Agam.

Indulge yourself.
