Shaarey Zedek. Cocktails will be served at 6. Naftaly is a member of the board of governors of the Jewish Welfare_Federation of Detroit, treasurer of the National Com- mission of the Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai B'rith, trustee of the Anti-Defamation League Foundation and a member of the finance committee of Sinai Hospi- tal. He is also associated with and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Michigan Association of CPAs, Economic Club of Detroit, Walsh College Advisory Board and the Accountants Guild. Mrs. Provizer is vice president, fund-raisi4g special projects for the Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah, has been on the execu- tive board serving as program vice president and media chair- man, is a board member of the Tri-County Braille Volunteers and presently is youth commis- sion chairman at Shaarey Zedek. She has served Shaarey Zedek as a member of the sisterhood board, has served on the educa- tion committee and cultural commission and on the Parent- Teachers Organization board. Naftaly and Provizer will coor- dinate communal activities cul- minating in the dinner. These in- clude a by-invitation-only parlor meeting in the home of Milton and Dawn Gilman at 8 p.m. June 4. The dinner honorees are Joseph and Lawrence Jackier and Shaarey Zedek, Philip Langwald and Adat Shalom and William Feldman and B'nai Moshe. Beth Abraham Hillel Moses and Beth Shalom will also participate in this event. The guest speaker for the parlor meeting will be Rabbi Yaakov G. Rosenberg, vice chancellor for de- velopment of the seminary. A graduate of Johns Hopkins Uni- versity and the Baltimore Hebrew College, he was ordained in 1949 at the seminary. For 18 years he served as spiritual leader of Cong._ Adath Jeshurun in Elkins Park, Pa. He has also had pulpits at Beth David Congregation, Miami, Fla., and Joan Provizer Temple Beth Zion, Philadelphia. In September 1978, Rabbi Rosenberg was appointed a vice chancellor of the seminary. He is also a member of the faculty, teaching homiletics, pastoral psy- chiatry and professional skills. The guest speaker for the June 13 dinner will be Dr. Simon Greenberg, vice chancellor of the seminary, vice president of its fa- culty, and chancellor emeritus of Rabbi Yaacov Rosenberg the University of Judaism, its West Coast campus, and execu- tive director of the Foundation for Conservative Judaism in Israel. Dr. Greenberg was rabbi of Har Zion Congregation in Philadel- phia for 21 years before coming to the seminary as provost in -1946. He has taught at the seminary since 1932, and since 1948 has been professor of homiletics and education on its faculty. Among the honors accorded Dr. Greenberg are the Seminary Medal, awarded to him in 1981; the seminary degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, awarded in 1975; and the Samuel Rothberg Award for distinguished contri- butions to Jewish education, con- ferred by Hebrew University in 1977. Dr. Greenberg has served on the executive committee of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization. Wins Dental Degree Dr. Lee I. Finn, son of Lillian and Fred Finn, was graduated re- cently from the University of Michigan Dental School. He will join his brother, Dr. Allan H. Finn, in private practice. c 11')
