Illegal Parts
May Go Back

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israel has
told the United States it is willing
to return any Krytron small tim-
ing and switching devices im-
ported into the country and not
yet incorporated into sophisti-
cated non-nuclear devices, includ-
ing laser equipment.
The U.S. claims that some 800
Krytrons were "smuggled" out of
the U.S. into Israel, without the
proper licenses. American reports
said they are used in the manufac-
ture of nuclear weapons.
Israel has admitted that some
800 such devices were brought
into Israel in 1982, but insists
that none have been used in the
nuclear field. Most of the devices
are said to be still held in stock
here, and Israel would like the
money back ($40 per Krytron) if
they are returned to the Califor-
nia manufacturer.
Meanwhile, Israeli business-
man and film producer Arnon
Milchan, whose name has been
linked in U.S. press reports with
the transfer of the devices, insists
he or his firms have had nothing
to do with any illegal transfer.
Milchan said last week the local
firm named as the importer is one
belonging to him. But he stressed
that any deals had been fully
covered by written orders and re-
quests for any licenses needed.
The American firm now under in-
vestigation in California has done
business with his firm, Milchan
said. But he has no other connec-
tions with the company in the
U.S., other than as a legal cus-
tomer.

`Hard Line'
On West Bank

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israelis
overwhelmingly take a hard line
against any future concessions in
the West Bank- or the Golan
Heights, according to the results
of a poll published in Maariv last
week. The poll was conducted by
the Modi'in Ezrachi Research In-
stitute.
It showed that 65 percent of the
population is opposed to any ter-
ritorial concessions in the West
Bank and 95 percent believes that
the Golan Heights are essential to
Israel's security.
Only 7.6 percent of the respon-
dents would be willing to give up
all of the Jewish settlements so
far established in the West Bank.

Laws Against
Denial Sought

Strassbourg (JTA) — The
European branch of the World
Jewish Congress (WJC) called on
its affiliates everywhere to press
their respective governments for
effective legislation that would
outlaw any attempt to whitewash
Nazi crimes or deny the horrors of
the Holocaust.
Israel Singer, Secretary of the
WJC, addressed 200 delegates
attending an observance of the
40th anniversary of the defeat of
Nazi Germany in Strassbourg last
week.
